Biography

Sharon Davidson, MBA, SFHEA

Role: 2014 - current

Sharon has been an Associate Lecturer with the Open University Business School, Faculty of Business and Law, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate (MBA) business students continually since 2014.  She currently teaches seven modules in total on a full time basis. This is a teaching role and she has a special interest in teaching prison learners.  She has been called upon to review prison materials for undergraduate business school module materials. All her undergraduate teaching roles are, therefore, delivered primarily (but not exclusively) to prison learners. Her MBA teaching includes: module delivery; residential school delivery; day school delivery; individual and tutor group tuition support; summative and formative assignment feedback; reviewing MBA module materials. 

She has produced several short films for the OUBS in relation to teaching OU students generally, and specifically in relation to prison tuition.

Professional Background:

She obtained her MBA with the Open University in 1999, subsequently working in the public and private sectors as an Organisation Development Consultant.  She achieved Senior Fellowship with Advance Higher Education in 2024, featuring module authorship and a higher education change and development project in Myanmar, as case study evidence.  She is now a full time Associate Lecturer, as well as Honorary Associate with the OUBS.

Current Academic Interest:

Since 2021, she has been undertaking a part-time Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) with the Open University. Her thesis was submitted in February 2026, and she is currently awaiting her Viva examination.

Thesis title: The Lived Experiences of OU Prison Tutors: An inquiry into what matters.
