Biography
Adriana Maldonado is currently a PhD candidate at the Open University, where she is guided by Dr. Suzanne Newcombe and Dr. Nichola Kentzer. Her research concentrates on the role of absorption in Modern Postural Yoga (MPY). Specifically, Adriana investigates both the historical evolution and the personal experiences of absorption, evaluating its effects on well-being and its relevance to the spiritual and health dimensions of yoga. Her work also critically examines the integration of the flow concept from positive psychology, a significant trend since the 1970s, in describing deep engagement within yoga practices.
Adriana holds an MA in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from SOAS University and is a certified 500+ Level 4 BWY Yoga teacher.
