Biography

I'm a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing and Communications. I joined the OU as a part time tutor in 2006 and joined as a full time researcher in the Institute of Educational Technology in 2008, becoming a Lecturer/Staff Tutor in 2010. I am currently module chair of TM354 Software Engineering.

Before working at the OU, I worked as a a professional software developer for a small company that designed and manufactured products for engineering education. Prior to this, worked as a Research Officer at the University of Brighton.

I have studied Social Sciences and Education at the OU, I hold a doctorate in Computation from the University of Manchester (UMIST), and a MSc from the University of Essex. I studied Computer Science at Salford University.

I have also tutored the following modules:

  • TM354 Software Engineering
  • M250 Object-oriented programming with Java
  • TM470 The IT Project module
  • H810 Accessible online learning
  • M364 Interaction Design

I also support the OU's Digital Technology Solutions degree apprenticeship programme.

I regularly update my work blog, where I write about computing, OU study and distance learning. I am a member of the editorial board of Open Learning: The Journal of Open, Distance and e-Learning, having been an editor for 8 years.
