Biography

As Associate Dean for Future of Tuition and Student Experience in the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL), I am responsible for developing tuition strategically in alignment with the other Open University (OU) faculties and OU overall strategy. I represent FBL both internally and externally and am a member of Faculty Executive. I am currently seconded as Academic Lead for one workstream of Growth and Working Smarter, addressing the needs of our current and prospective students and ensuring a resilient future for the university.

I joined the OU originally as a Student Experience Manager, supporting our teaching delivery as a member of a number of module teams and line managing Associate Lecturer (AL) colleagues. I have contributed to the effective implementation of the AL contract in faculty as Faculty Lead for FBL. I continue to be a business and marketing Associate Lecturer myself, delivering our module Understanding Customer Behaviour each year. As part of my academic role, I co-supervise a number of students undertaking doctorates at the OU. I completed my own doctorate in sustainable entrepreneurship in 2021. I retain a strong interest in this area of research being a co-author of a paper published in the Journal of Cleaner Production, and being awarded Best Developmental Paper in the Entrepreneurship track at the British Academy of Management conference 2024.

As an alumni of the OU, having graduated in 2008 with an MBA(Open), I remain wholly committed to the mission of the OU and securing equitable outcomes for our students, facilitating them to achieve their very best and working with colleagues to reduce all awarding gaps.
