Professional Interests
Claire Maguire joined the Open University in January 2018 as a Lecturer and Student Experience Manager in the Business School. Claire was then promoted to Senior Lecturer in Business and Management at the OU and now holds the office of Head of Student Experience in Business.
Claire is recognised as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, holds an MSc Employee Relations & HR, Level 7 Executive Coaching and BA (Hons) History & Economics degree. Claire has recently been recognised by the Chartered Association of Business Schools as a Certified Management and Business Educator.
Research interests
Claire is active in scholarship and research looking into the effective use of technology in education to support both Tutors and students. Claire is working currently on Generative AI and Student Assessments and how this translates into the practical support for tutors and students in the business school. Claires first scholarship researched the impact of machine learning and the use of Predictive Analytics. The Faculty of Business and Law has been a main adopter of this technology to support the retention and progression of their students. Claires work is influencing pedagogic practice across the Open University and the wider HE sector.
Teaching Interests
Claire has worked on Microcredentials and Short Courses as a Learning Advisor.
Claire is an APPLAUD Mentor, mentoring colleagues for the FHEA and SFHEA of the Higher Education Academy
As an Executive Coach Claire has worked with many clients to enable them to fulfil their potential and worked as a Career Coach on the Cranfield MBA
