Biography

Professional biography

Before joining DPP, Craig worked in central government for Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). While there he held a number of roles including working in private office for the Secretary of State and, his most recent job, working as a policy officer in the water quality team. This worked centred on developing a new national initiative to develop a decentralised approach to land and water management at catchment levels to improve water quality; as well as working on creating a strategy, for consultation, on tackling diffuse pollution from urban environments.

Craig received his Msc in development management from DPP at the Open University in May 2010, with a focus on development and war, and environment management.

- In 2012, Craig was awarded the first Robert Beevers Memorial Studentship to do his PhD. The studentship was made possible by a generous gift in the Will of Dr Robert Beevers, one of the OU's "founding fathers”

Research interests

Craig’s interests lie in post-war reconstruction; specifically issues of local ownership in peace-building and state-building interventions. His PhD will examine experiences in two case study countries of how public participation impacts on re-establishing and institutionalising non-violent social relations.
