Biography

Professional biography

Until 18 March 2025 and redundancy through University restructuring, Damon was Manager for Information and Communications for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), having joined the Faculty of Arts in 2008. He is an experienced copywriter and content producer, as well as curriculum administrator.  

As part of the FASS Communications and Web Team, Damon was responsible for social media; online and print prospectuses; publications; curriculum promotion; events; broadcast information; student engagement; and internal communications. He also led on communications for the FASS Equality and Diversity Team. Prior to this, he was Secretary for Faculty Assembly and Faculty Committee, and Administrator for Information and Governance.

He is Associate Lecturer (AL) in International Development, having been AL in Politics and Social Sciences, Jean Monnet Professor at Essex University, and part-time lecturer at UEA and NTU. He was previously at the General Osteopathic Council and in the Diplomatic Service at the FCDO.

He holds an MA (Hons) in Politics, MA in World Politics, and PhD in Utopian Studies.

 

 

Research interests

Damon researches and writes on utopianism, ideal communities (and pirates)

Teaching interests

Damon is an Associate Lecturer in International Development, currently teaching Introducing global development (D229), previously teaching International development: making sense of a changing world (TD223), and Introducing the social sciences (DD101) at The Open University.
