Biography
Devmali is a Lecturer in Finance at The Open University. Prior to joining The Open University Business School in October 2024, Devmali worked as a Lecturer in Finance at the RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) University in Vietnam, at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka. Devmali holds a PhD in Finance and Master of Commerce in Finance from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. She has alson completed MBA in Finance degree from the University of Colombo and BSc in Finance degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka.
Devmali has published her main research examining the different financialization aspects of agricultural commodity markets, examining the insider trading in equity markets and has conducted meta-analysis studies in finance. Her research has been published in high ranked peer reviewed journals such as International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Commodity Markets and Research in International Business and Finance. Her current research interests are leaning towards fintech, financial inclusion and sustainable finance.
