Professional biography

I  joined The Open University in 2017 after a senior NHS career as a nurse , health visitor and educator. Since 2018 . I have worked as a Lecturer in Nursing , leading module development and authoring content on safeguarding,health promotion, patient safety,quality improvement and leadership and a 60 credit module K*211 Developing Nursing Practice in presentation. I hold a PGCert in Higher Education, a Masters in Education and have been awarded Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. 

Currently, I am in the role of Programme Lead for the Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate Practice. My academic interests include assessment in practice,authentic assessment and student feedback supported by scholarship projects on formative assessment ,workplace learning and innovative teaching approaches.

Academic interests: Assessment in practice (formative and summative), practice-based learning, authentic assessment, student engagement with feedback, and strategies to foster self-regulated learning.

My scholarship activity 

  • Investigated how student nurses respond to formative assessment feedback (Oct 2022–Aug 2023).Unpublished 
  • Co-investigator on a cross-faculty project to enhance tripartite relationships in degree apprenticeships, securing ethical approval and authoring the final report(Aug 2022–Dec 2025).
  • Contributing to an Open Societal Challenge project exploring WBL and WIL models across sectors and countries, focusing on scaffolding learning and managing learner-worker identities (Oct 2025–Jul 2026).
