Biography

Fidèle Mutwarasibo is a Senior Lecturer in Work-Based Learning and Director of The Open University’s Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership. He holds a PhD in Sociology from University College Dublin. He previously worked in the voluntary sector at all levels (volunteer, executive and trustee/director) in Central/East Africa, Ireland, and the UK. Between 2015 and 2021, he was principal consultant at DILEAS Consulting, a consultancy vehicle specialising in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). As a consultant, he worked with several clients, including local authorities, consulting practices and academic institutions in Ireland, the UK and further afield.

Fidèle is a trustee at MK Rose and 5 Dimensions Education Trust and an Honorary Vice President with MK Community Foundation. He previously served as a commissioner on the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission and on the Consumer Consultative Panel of Ireland’s Financial Regulator. Fidèle has (and is) engaged in place-based leadership practices in Dublin (Ireland) and Milton Keynes (the UK) and firmly believes in social citizenship.

Fidele is an expert in equality, diversity, inclusion, participation, and belongingness. As a pracademic (Scholar- Practitioner), Fidèle is an expert in knowledge exchange and translating research into practical ideas to promote social and racial justice. He is enthusiastic about taking a stand against hermeneutical injustice in research and academia. He is researching and teaching inclusive leadership, allyship and collaboration practices that address racial inequities, with members of racialised minority communities playing an active and meaningful role.
