Biography
I grew up in Sandhurst, Berkshire and went to the University of Sussex to study a BSc in Physics. After a couple of years in London (I did my MSc at Kings College) I returned to live in Brighton. I did a PGCE in Secondary Science and became a classroom tutor for a few years before starting work with the OU. I was an Associate Lecturer on maths and physics modules for many years before becoming a staff tutor in 2019. In 2023 I became a Senior Lecturer
Research interests
The teaching of Python across our modules and in particular at level 1. I have also done research to ascertain sources of anxiety for students as they complete their online exams. I am currently interested in assessment and the ue of Generative AI
Teaching interests
As an Associate Lecturer I was involved with many modules that include interdisciplinary, physics and mathematics. These included S111, MST224, S217 and SXP390. I currently tutor on S385 an SM123.
As a staff tutor I have written material and set assessment on S111, S217, S383 and S385.
I am currently on the production team for S227 Core Physics where I was lead author on the first topic Forces and Motion
