Professional biography
Currently, I am engaged in a PhD at the Open University (UK) investigating the Rb-Sr system in micas, applying mainly LA-ICP-MS/MS. My goals are to advance the understanding of the Rb-Sr dating method and the significance of mica ages in the context of shear zones.
I obtained my MSc in October 2024 at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (Brazil) under the supervision of Cristiano Lana and Fernando F. Alkmim. I developed two pieces of software for LA-ICP-MS data reduction (TE Saturn and Sr Saturn) and investigated fluid sources for carbonate formation and diagenesis, applying calcite and dolomite U-Pb dating, trace element, and Sr-isotopes analyses.
I have an undergraduate degree in Geology from the Federal University of Ouro Preto (Brazil) in 2022.
Research interests
I'm passionate about isotopic and trace elements geochemistry, especially laser ablation methodologies and their applications.
My current research focuses on the in situ Rb-Sr dating method of micas via LA-ICP-MS/MS. The main objectives are: (i) advancing the understanding of the Rb-Sr dating methodology by assessing laser parameters, cryslographic effects, and data reduction protocols' influence on the precision and accuracy; (ii) investigating the systematics of the Rb-Sr system in shear zones in the face of deformation, metamorphism, and fluid circulation influences. The final result is to establish mica as a robust geological recorder for constraining shear zones' deformation history by combining in situ Rb-Sr dating with petrography, textural analysis, EBSD, and trace and major element analyses.
Furthermore, I have experience tracking carbonate fluid source, diagenesis and hydrothermalism applying in situ U-Pb dating, Sr-isotope, and trace element analyses. Additionally, I have experience in software development using Python.
