Biography

Ismay Mummery is a PhD student at the Open University and a multi-award winning  sustainable fashion brand founder.  Her research is investigating how to increase garment mending by looking at the drivers, challenges and opportunities for different communities. She holds an undergraduate and masters degree in fashion from the London College of Fashion, and is an alumna of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership and a member of the Union of Concerned Fashion Researchers. She has a research paper currently under peer review with Fashion Practice - 'Clothing Mending Personas of British Adults'.

Ismay also delivers Carbon Literacy training for the university. This role has also involved updating the course materials with new data and content and laising with learners on their assessment submissions. She is also trained to run the 'How Bad are Bananas' game for staff and students.

Ismay and her business are used as a case study for level one and two of the Design degree at the Open University.
