Biography
Professional biography
I joined the OU in 2001 as an Associate Lecturer in Social Sciences. While fulfilling that role I was also a lecturer, and then senior lecturer, in Social Sciences in FE. I became a Staff Tutor in Economics at the OU in October 2020. I have a number of honours degrees: BA Business Studies, BSc Mathematical Studies, BA Open Degree, BA History and Philosophy and an LLB. I am currently studying for a PhD in Economics. I also have two post grad teaching degrees: one is Teaching in Further Education and the other is Teaching English as a Second Language.
Research interests
My current research interests include the impacts of the entanglements of austerity and COVID-19 on marginalised communities, the case of Glasgow Pollok. My PhD study is concerned with the Economics of Happiness relating to benefits impacts from community energy projects. I also have an interest in research concerning partnerships and sharing good practice between FE and HE.
Teaching interests
I teach on the social sciences module DD102 and I am the Chair (J Presentation) for DB125 'You and Your Money' in economics.
