Dr Katie Balaam

Professional biography

I joined the Open University in 2021 as a Lecturer in Accounting. Prior to that, I worked at the University of Birmingham, and Queen Mary University of London. I also worked at the University of Buckingham for twelve years as a Lecturer in Accounting. I obtained my PhD in the field of corporate governance and capital structure from Birkbeck, University of London, in 2018. Before moving to Academia, I also worked as a Financial accountant in the automotive sector, and I am FCCA qualified.
