Biography

I am a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), Research Associate (RA), and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Lead in applied health research, with six years’ experience investigating and supporting the emotional wellbeing of families. I specialise in amplifying seldom-heard voices and reducing barriers to inclusion in research and health service improvement.

Taking a trauma-informed approach, I work with vulnerable populations, including perinatal (pregnant and postpartum) families, pre-bereaved and bereaved carers (including children and adolescents), and oncology patients.

My research examines modifiable social and cognitive mechanisms associated with anxiety, depression, and subclinical distress during vulnerable life stages (e.g., childbirth, bereavement, oncology treatment). The aim is to identify opportunities for prevention and early intervention to reduce long-term mental health difficulties.

I am committed to translating research into real-world impact, co-creating evidence-based resources for patients, families, Healthcare professionals (HCPs), and community service providers. Recent outputs include a perinatal mental health (PMH) website (launching May 2026) and practical clinical resources designed to support sensitive conversations and reduce barriers to disclosure during routine perinatal care.

I have led interdisciplinary collaborations across academia and the NHS, contributed to many grant applications, and co-produced research and service improvements with experts by experience (children and adults), service providers, and commissioners. I manage multiple concurrent projects across NHS and university settings and am currently working with NHS partners in Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, South Cumbria, and Norfolk.
