Mr Liam Durrant
PhD Research Student
Biography
I am a PhD research student working on a project to understand the transport of carbon from Europa's ocean into its ice shell and how this may be refelcted in surface compositions detectable by spacecraft and Earth-based instruments.
The overarching aim of this project, and my main motivation, is to explore habitability in our solar system.
Previously I have investigated putative aqueous features on Mars that could have formed during geologically recent flood events. Aqueous dune-like bedforms in Athabasca Valles and neighbouring locations utilized in palaeoflood reconstruction - ScienceDirect
My current research focus is cryochemistry, while I also maintain interests in geomorphology and extremophile microbiology.
