Biography

I am an autistic researcher. My current research is the potential of online learning to support equity and inclusion of autistic higher education students.
My passion and dedication to this area of research is firmly rooted in my own late diagnosis and personal experience of not successfully accessing campus-based universities.
Previous postgraduate studies include a Masters in English literature and a Masters in Online Teaching, both awarded by the Open University.
Employment has included working as a primary teacher with responsibilities for the management of both the Early Years department and Staff Development. I have also worked in both voluntary and paid employment for Rethink the mental health charity, and in the PPI Department of an NHS  Foundation Trust. There I edited a magazine for mental health patients, service users and their carers, and managed staff training courses on Plain English, and oversaw the proofing of all NHS leaflets for non-medical readers.
