Biography
Professional biography
Nelli Stavropoulou is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate for the Centre for Protecting Women Online. She is a participatory arts-based researcher and a creative facilitator, whose work explores and re-visits the intersections between storytelling, self-representation, and creative expression across social, biographical and digital spaces. Previous work includes participatory arts-based research with children and young people from a migrant and refugee background in education (New ABC - Networking the educational world: Across boundaries for community-building), as well as biographical creative research with individuals seeking asylum in the UK. She is currently involved in the Horizon-funded research project ALPHABETICA - Activating learning paths: Holistic arts-based education and training for inclusion and awareness, focused on supporting young people's participation in arts for education and learning.
Research interests
Nelli's research interests focus on gender and identity online, perceptions and sense-making of online violence and safety, processes of storytelling, self-representation, lived experiences of forced displacement and marginalisation, and arts-based methodological approaches. Her creative work and research practice are underpinned by participatory action research principles with a focus on co-creation and visual methods.
