Dr Nyasha Suliali
Spaceflight Detector Characterisation Engineer
Biography
Professional biography
Nyasha received his Doctorate in Nanophotonics (2020), Master of Philosophy in Lasers and Applied Optics (2017) and BSc Honours in Applied Physics (2010) in South Africa and Zimbabwe respectively. Before joining the Centre for Electronic Imaging, he developed temperature compensating photonic grating sensors at the University of York (UK) using electron beam lithography, photolithography, DC sputtering, oxygen plasma, thermal evaporation and reactive ion etching systems.
Research interests
Nyasha's research interests in the development of photonic sensors and optics systems dates from 2015 when he developed an optical cohrerence tomography system for surface profilometry. He then contributed to hydrogen energy research through the development of titania nanostructured photoelectrodes for light harvesting. His current role involves computational optical design for space imaging systems and characterisation of space imaging sensors.
