Dr Paul Richards

From August 2026 I am undertaking a secondment as a staff tutor in Computing and Communications.

I am originally an OU graduate myself, gaining a BSc in Computing with first class honours. I worked in IT for over 15 years in varied roles, mostly with SQL databases. Latterly I programmed in Java and C# and was a web developer. I also gained a PhD from Aston University in AI (case-based reasoning).

I have completed some OU modules as a student, for continuing professional development:

• H880 Educational Technology 2020: gaining a PgCert(ODE)
• M817 Systems Security 2023
• M811 Information Security 2025

I have been an OU tutor since 2015 and work on M269 and TM470. I have previously been involved in M250, TM252, TM256, and TM359. My interests include software development, algorithms and combinatorics type puzzles.
