Dr Parisa Dashtipour

Professional biography

I joined The Open University in September 2022. Prior to joining, I worked as Senior Lecturer in Organizational Psychology at Middlesex University.

I have a long-standing interest in psychosocial studies and its application in various fields. My work is situated at the intersection of critical psychology, psychosocial studies, and critical work and organizational psychology. 

Research interests

The overarching question that interests me is how subjectivity is formed, injured, or expressed within social relations of power.

I am interested in three areas of inquiry, which I see as interconnected

• The relation between subjectivity, labour and its organization
• Violence in its various manifestations and effects, but particularly those that are subtle and not immediately visible or comprehensible
• Critical and psychoanalytic approaches to mental health

I welcome enquiries from people interested in undertaking a PhD on themes related to any of the above. However, I am only interested in supervising projects that adopt critical, feminist, and/or psychosocial/psychoanalytic theoretical frameworks, and that use qualitative methods, such as discourse analysis, narrative analysis, and thematic analysis.
