Biography

I am Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Educations Studies (Primary). I have extensive experience of production and presentation of undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the Open University. I chaired the production of the PGCE (Wales) primary pathway modules.

I began my teaching career as a Geography uinversity lecturer, before moving to school teaching and then becoming the OU PGCE Geography Leader. I draw on this expertise in my teaching and as a key member of the School of Education, Childhood and Youth Sustainability Working Group.

Scholarship interests include embedding personal development planning within and across qualifications, exploring the motivations and experiences of full-time Open University students and promoting more inclusive approaches to assessment.

I am currently involved in two Praxis projects:

  • Exploring students’ experiences of racially inclusive assessment practices in online distance learning.
  • Leading a racially inclusive pedagogy working group for Modified Seminar Workshops on a Level 2 module
