Biography

Rachel has worked as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University since 2019, and teaches on two counselling and psychology modules -

D241 Exploring Mental Health and Counselling

DD310 Counselling and Forensic Psychology

Rachel is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and the BPS (British Psychological Society).  Outside of the Open University, Rachel works clinically in private practice offering therapy to adults.  

Rachel wrote the visual descriptions for D241 module material (2020), as well as course material for D120 Encountering Psychology in Context and the chapter on 'Brain Injury and Neuropsychology' for the module handbook (2023). 

Rachel is currently in the process of writing a book for Routledge about counselling for adults with neurological disorders and adults with language impairments after brain injury.   This builds on her doctoral research exploring the psychological experience of adults acquiring a communication impairment after brain injury.
