Biography
Randy is a Lecturer in Energy and Sustainable Technologies at The Open University, committed to advancing education and research in renewable energy, sustainability, and climate-change mitigation. His work focuses on bridging theoretical knowledge with practical applications to prepare learners and professionals for the challenges of the global energy transition. Previously, he's undertaken teaching and research at the UWI, Mona campus (Jamaica, 2016-2023) and at CU (UK, 2023-2025) on technologies from Geothermal and Solar PV to Wind energy.
With a PhD in Physics and over a decade of experience in higher education and research, he specialises in renewable energy technologies, energy management, and resource assessment techniques. His expertise spans multiple software applications such as, WindPro, GIS applications, and techniques for site suitability integration. He has contributed to curriculum development, supervised postgraduate research, and published in high-impact journals on multiple themes of renewables.
Beyond teaching, he actively collaborates with international research groups and industry partners to develop innovative solutions aligned with energy engineering, economics, and policy. His mission is to empower students, professionals, and collaborators to create resilient, sustainable energy systems that meet global needs responsibly.
