Mr Sarel Marais, IEI BSc(Eng) CEng MIEI Pr.Eng

I have been a Staff Tutor at the Open University since 2022 and an Associate Lecturer at the School of Engineering and Innovation within the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics since 2020.

My engineering career began in 1990 after completing my degree, providing me with extensive experience in project management, design, and operations. I have worked across a range of industries, including steel, ceramic tiles, food production, and aluminium extrusion.

Throughout my career, I have contributed to international projects in countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, China, and Turkey. I am passionate about mentoring and developing the next generation of engineers.

My expertise spans multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, control, materials, environmental, and process engineering.
