Biography

I joined the Open University as a Lecturer in Design in 2025, bringing expertise in sustainability, traditional knowledge systems, and digital innovation. My journey began in accessory design in India before transitioning to design research in the UK, which shapes my interdisciplinary approach to contemporary design challenges.

I hold a PhD in Design from Lancaster University, where I explored how traditional Indian products and practices can inform contemporary design for sustainability, challenging Western-centric approaches to environmental design

My current research focuses on the intersection of traditional knowledge with digital technologies, fan culture and materiality, and decolonial approaches to design practice. I use participatory design methods extensively and engage with diverse communities, from policymakers to local stakeholders, believing that meaningful design emerges from collaborative processes.

I am passionate about making design education accessible to diverse learners through innovative online teaching methods and inclusive curriculum development.
